An interesting discussion with PM was the impetus for this survey.
Do you regularly use flycutters on your vertical or horizontal
machining centers?
[ ] Yes.
[ XXXXXXXXXX] No.
[ ] Sometimes.
What are some of the reasons you DO, or DON'T?
Cost of tooling, productivity, finish quality, ease of programming, other?

NO,
If you are referring to a single tool type, then definately not,
invariably, a "brain surgeon", (read - me), fires the spindle up at,
say, 2500 rpm, and the machine starts a jigglin like a teenage girl,
nuff said, it will surely shorten spindle life
I have 5 or 7 different types of face mills in the shop, ie: 45 degree
lead, 90 lead, laydown, etc.
There is one exception, thin, flat, stainless parts that require a
nice finish are easier with a single tool flycutter, with a small
radius on the tip, that is my only exception.

Good on topic question!!
