We've been using G92's for over a decade without much of a problem.
BTW, the programmers ARE the operators, most of the time (onezies -
twozies).

Doubt that I've used G92 at all in the past coupe decades....at one point
though seems virtually every program started out with one....

===

Good portion of the early NC mills in the aerospace arena were large
hydraulic tracer and planers, refitted with multiple milling spindles--some
had up to 12 spindles, ~ 10hp each, and we'd have 1/2 em running clockwise
with the other 1/2 being left handers and ( otherwise your XY servos
would've needed to be TRULY MASSIVE ).....

The procedure was to ALWAYS re-indicate your fixture "set point" at the #1
spindle, ( because sometimes the machine would 'drift'--esp if it ran hyd
rams and spool valve with inductosyn feedback instead of them newfangled
ballscrew thingeys )....

Well, next you'd install fresh cutter(s), leveling them all to their
respective fixtures with a 3in block, and then you'd install your next tape
reel before finally pushing cycle start...

Anyways, basically repeat the above for each set of cutters, ( sometimes
changing also clamps around, etc)....till you've finally run the last tape
spool....

Joy at last, time to load fresh parts !!! ( and so it all started over
again )...
