Well, ya got me there. LOL He's just as politically bigoted and
insulting as yourself, just in the other direction.
Actually, I didn't expect our little talk here to last so long. It's
already losing it's interest for me, but I'll go one more round. But
winding it down is the plan for the near future.
What goals are there in mountain climbing? None thats worthwhile. But
it doesnt stop people from doing so.
Mountain climbing is excellent exercise, helps stamina & endurance,
stretches yourself physically, and tests yourself against the elements.
Yes. So is Libtard bashing. But its mental exercise, not physical. The
rest apply as well.
Any fool can insult others. A REAL accomplishment would be to win
others over to your way of thinking by your powers of persuasion and
objective presentation of irrefutable and unbiased facts.
Evidently you have reading comprehension problems, if you think all I do
is post insults.
I didn't state that that's "ALL" you do, but it's a predominate trait
in most of your political posts. Heck, you just did it again by
inferring that I have some reading comprehension problems. LMAO!
Evidently you DO have reading comprehension issues. How can that be an
insult?
Like many people, I don't really have any dogs in this fight, since I
don't consider myself either a Democrat nor a Republican nor a
Libertarian nor do I ascribe to the tenets of any other organized or
unorganized political party. My thoughts, beliefs, ideas, etc. don't
fit very well in the nice neat stereotypical pigeon holes that are
labeled "Conservative", "Liberal", or whatever. I vote for who I think
will do the best job, and not along any party lines.
I think most people see your posts (AND those of your equally extremist
opponents), and just write both extremes off as irrelevant kooks so
don't bother to respond in support of either side. But I've got a
little time right now so I'll attempt to give you some objective
feedback from my own perspective.
Go for it.
However..given that Liberalism is a mental illness, usually affecting
those too stupid to use reason, rational thought or logic...its a given
that they are not going to be won over by use of reason, logic or
rational thought.
If they were capable of such..they wouldnt be liberals.
These comments are either:
A. A joke.
B. Bait for arguments sake.
C. Specious/ridiculous insults
D. An example of masochistic newsgroup self-euthanasia.
E. An indication of an impending or existing psychopathic break with
reality.
F. Two or more of the above.
Or
G. The truth.
No.
Please answer the following questions if you will:
1. Do you believe in equal rights for all citizens?
Some rights may be removed from those incompetent or convicted of
criminal actions.
2. Do you believe in freedom of speech, thought, and belief?
Of course, no matter how stupid, ignorant or buffoonish.
3. Do you believe in the "rule of law"?
No.
At one time, it was quite legal to hold another human being as a slave.
There is law, and justice. They often do not intersect.
You seem a little more politically partisan than most. Whether that's
due to your experiences during and right after your return from combat,
I have no idea. Do you?
Yes. Because I know the difference between right and wrong. Ive on
several occasions sworn an oath to protect and defend...and I see
Liberals as enemies of the Constitution (and not a few conservatives
either, mores the pity)
I'm sure you believe what you said above, but those are just your own
opinions which may or may not be valid in part or in whole.
Your opinion is noted.
It was an observation. Some points you might consider:
Symantic fiddle faddle.
Yes, they are. However there is pragmatic compromise.
A. Right and Wrong are not absolutes.
B. By your own statement "... I see Liberals as..." the "I see" part is
your own admission that you know it's YOUR own interpretation/opinion,
and not objective fact.
Of course. Did I say I got it carved on stone tablets?
Fence sitters only get a sore crotch and often sway with the wind.
Ive got my feet firmly on the ground.
"Extremism in the defence of liberty is no vice. Moderation in the
pursuit of justice is no virtue." Barry Goldwater.
You're an intelligent fellow, I'm sure you must see the dangers of
blind and unquestioned allegiance to ANY political party or ideology.
True enough. You might remind the liberals of that.
I'm addressing you and your particular mind-set at the moment.
Yes and?
I base my world
views on fact, logic, reason, rational thinking and history. I may use
bombast and whatnot to make my case...but my case is Always based on
fact, not feelgoodism or some party programming.
Always? Not to be confrontational, but I fear your statement earlier
in this post about "Liberalism being a mental illness" tends to
contradict your above comment that your world views are based upon fact,
logic, reason, and rational thinking.
Again your opinion is noted. I continue to claim that liberalism,
because all data shows it to be fatally flawed ideology, those that
hold to it, are mentally ill.
Liberalism is a concept or ideology. Now certain people that hold or
agree with that concept/ideology, OR any other, may very well be
diagnosed with having a mental illness... but the concept/ideology is
hardly a mental illness in itself.
See above.
You DO see your inconsistency here, now that it's been pointed out,
don't you?
See above.
Plus you must know that thinking/believing that all those that think
differently than yourself are somehow mentally defective is thinking
that sits on a very slippery slope.
Hardly "all those that think differently than me". So..you are claiming
by logical progression, that those who think having sex with 3 yr old
children are normal? Because they hold different views than I do.
Correct?
We grow as intellectual individuals by constantly questioning our basic
assumptions & premises and comparing them to the latest evidence &
facts. If someone has a psychological NEED to validate & rationalize
their beliefs, even in the light of contradictory evidence, they can get
off track pretty easily.
Correct. Witness the libtard, faced with irrefutable data, still
following their programming like lemmings over a cliff.
Again, I'm talking to you here. BTW, Did you ever correct your mistake
in the definition of fascism?
Which mistake was that? That Liberalism holds many of the same agenda
points as fascism (as does marxism) and because of that..Liberals are
close to Fascists?
Being a cop is one of the most stressful occupations there is. What's
unfortunate is that often the type of people that are drawn to that sort
of work are sometimes emotionally damaged; bullies, people with a
psychological need to assert their will over others, the violence prone
individuals that wouldn't be able to legally express that violence in
any other job. In police work they find a semi-useful niche for
themselves where their animosity & antagonism is often seen as a
positive trait.
Such individuals are for the most part, weeded out long before they get
sworn in. A tiny faction do make it to the street..but like priests who
prey on children..its a tiny fraction of the whole.
I agree that bad cops are just a fraction of the whole. But given the
number of times that police brutality is found out, it's only reasonable
to assume that there are MANY other instances where there were no
witnesses or cameras to uncover and record them.
First, you are going to have to define "police brutality". I suspect we
have different definitions.
Here's another metric for determining the quantity of off-topicness
in
the group. From BD's just posted Statistics and the "Toplist of
Subjects", this time I used the byte volume to make the comparison.
On-topic = 961,676 bytes
Off-topic = 1,429,683 bytes
So the off-topic posts seem to be about 60% of the total volume
of
bytes while the on-topic bytes seem to be about 40% of the total.
Thread counts have nothing to do with volume.
Did you miss the where I mentioned:
On-topic = 961,676 bytes
Off-topic = 1,429,683 bytes
Looks like a VOLUME measurement to me.
Only because thats the criteria you chose.
Given that the binary
newsgroups transfer gigabytes ever hour...a half meg over the course of
a day means ***
But last time I checked, THIS isn't a binary group, now is it. So what
goes on in binary groups is pretty much irrelevant to a text only group.
So why are you whimpering about bandwith usage?
===================================================================
But like I've repeatedly said, off-topicness in itself is not a big
deal. But a large percentage of these off topic posts are outsiders
responding to politically motivated posts due to excessive crossposting
to unrelated political and kook groups.
So kick Cliffs ass. He brings em in.
What? Are you constitutionally unable to NOT respond? This is
alt.machines.cnc NOT alt.respond.to.every.political.kook.on.usenet.
I stated quite clearly that I find it FUN to do. See previous comment
about reading comprehension issues.....
Perhaps you should consult with Cliff about bringing them in?
He's the #1 offender. You're the #2 offender.
I dont bring em in.
But you exacerbate or increase the problem by your responses. If you
didn't respond to the political baiting the problem would be lessened
appreciably.
What problem are you refering to? Currently there are 42 seperate
threads active, with 2 being OT. Not counting the one about the unions.
*TWO* OT threads? Well, let's see:

Now some of those titles may SOUND like they'd be on-topic, but a
thread with no useful machining content but just flinging insults
doesn't qualify as on-topic in my book.
And Im participating in how many of those again?
Are you or the other readers so gnormless that you are unable to resist
downloading the bodies and reading the OT threads?
So it's the fault of the READERS that some posters respond to
crossposted OT & political trash talking posts that choke the group?
Choke? Again, I suggest you refer to the above statement.
Im curious though..what does street racing have to do with CNC?
Not much. Have you seem many 100 post street racing threads in here
crossposted all over usenet?
Yes.
Being the curious sort and since street racing used to be a hobby of
mine, I did a Google search for "street racing" and a.m.c. I got 92
hits. It seems that most of them are are just mentioning street racing
in passing and don't continue for more than a few posts. My Street Race
Story surfaces now and then and sometimes the thread goes on for a
handful of posts. I didn't see much evidence of crossposting. There
was no "street racing" thread that lasted anywhere near 100 posts.
So I would tend to believe your memory of there having been "100 post
street racing threads crossposted all over usenet" may be a little
faulty.
So can I assume that a lack of response on this issue means you concede
the point that your memory of there being "100 post street racing
threads crossposted all over usenet" may be faulty?
Of course. the "all over usenet" portion was incorrect. However its
still OT.
Careful how you answer..it may be your ox this time...
Why? You do you feel in a goring mood?
Ayup.
And the $64,000 question is... WHY?
Because its fun.
You're avoiding the question of exactly WHY you consider that attacking
others with insults is fun?
Refer to my previous statements about your reading comprehension issues.
Ive stated my reasons a number of times in this thread.
PS One other little tid-bit while I'm here. All the prior idle
chit-chat aside this is actually serious. Have you ever considered
going to Fadal or Haas school to be a tech? With the number of Fadals
and Haas' in use in So. Cal. there would never be any lack of work. And
if you later wanted to break away from the parent company there still
would be plenty of work. We use some guys to fix our Fadals whose
leader used to work for Fadal. They are MUCH cheaper and do quality
work.
There are LOTs of Fadal and Hass techs out there. And I dont have the
$20k to to to the schools.
Im working on building my own niche and so far..its coming along.
