Japan in general failed to have enough children so will be less
and less of a player as their population ages and dwindles.

George,
There is just something that really bothers me about a statement like that.
Yesterday my 3-1/2 year old grandson brought home a world map produced by
Unicef. It shows where they get contributions, and where they are 'helping'
children. About 1/4 of the globe gives and 3/4 apparently can't feed their
children. You'll notice the quotes around helping. With a world population
of around 6 billion I have to ask why we are helping children survive in
places that mostly can't support human habitation. Aren't we just going to
create another billion starving children? How does an extra billion
starving people in places where there is no hope for them, better than
people in places where they CAN take good care of them having children?
Maybe Sam Kinneson had it exactly right. He said "Don't send them food,
send them U-hauls! Get them to hell out of the desert! WE have deserts,
nobody lives there!"

If that yanked your chain try this article

As far as no one living in the [US] deserts try Las Vegas and
Palm Springs.
The problem with sending them U-Hauls is that the ICE keeps
stopping them at our borders. It is not enough to leave, you
must have some where to go.
I do agree that whatever the more developed countries are doing
to "help," it ain't working and appears to be making the
problem(s) worse.

does not constitute so strong an attachment
as that from which they draw their gains.
