I use Sxxxx.2.
Don't know why (other than that's what the examples in the manual
used). But it works.

Bill,
I think you owe me some taps. :)
And material. :) :)
What happened?
I think his taps went south on him Bill.
OTOH, you don't "owe" him anything.
Advice is worth what you pay for it <G>
SXXX.1 not Sxxx.2
I think that engages the high gear range on the high/low spindle. It's what
FADAL recomends .2 that is, and not .1. Your machine probably doesn't switch
over until 2500 RPM or so and the ratio in high range allows greater
sensitivity on reversals. The spindle stops reverses and restarts quicker or
so I was told.
All that really matters is that you got it to work.
For myself, I was wondering if you can go from inch units to metrec units
under program control.
Personally, I like the Mits formatting. They let you do E20 R,1 for a twenty
pitch thread and the spindle speed doesn't matter. They also have
synchronous, not rigid, tapping which means you can peck tap with the hand
wheel if you switch to the MPG when the spindle orients if the machine is in
single block mode.
I've installed Invert-A-Bolts this way.
