So basically, your *ideal* candidate will have the ability of someone
with 10 years experience, who's willing to work at the wages of
someone with only 2 years experience.

Like Vinny said, you can learn a lot in 2 years, but not as much as
you're looking for. Someone who, after 2 years, says he can do all the
above, is full of it - and you don't want him.

Kind of like the guy who called here about 3 months ago. Called
himself an "Expert Machinist". He'd been at it for 10 years and could
run *any* machine.

"Oh really!", I said, "Can you run a CNC Swiss?"

"Umm...No"

"How about a cam operated Swiss"

"No."

"Have you ever seen one?"

"Well, is that one of those that runs coil stock?"

"Not exactly.",
"How about a CNC Gang lathe"

"Isn't that one of those big turret lathes?"

"I thought you were an expert. Just what kind of machines *can* you
run?"

"Well...I've done mostly prototype work on manual machines, ya know,
mills, lathes, surface grinders."

"What about CNC's?"

"Oh Yeah. I've run......." and he named about 4 different brands of
VMC's.

"Can you program them?"

"Well, no. But I can troubleshoot the programs, ya know, find
problems."

"Yeah, find problems. I know the type. And you call yourself and
Expert?"

"That's right!"

"Well", I said, "If I ever need an expert, I'll give you a call."
