What? Excuse me?
Maytag doesn't have any information on how to remove the back of their
own
fridge?
So on top of really poor quality Maytag can claim to have really poor
service.
Today I found that once again the fridge has stopped working.
That's three things going wrong in less than one year.
Buyer beware.
Ain't they all made in china or mexico now-A-days?
Iv'e been repairing my gas drier for gee 15 yrs now.
Monkey ward. Book has how you get the front off buy putting a putty
knife in 4 places to pop some hidden clips open, 1985 drier & even
then they were starting to get away from real bolts.
Maybe they are made in Mexico or China, but they are made according to
Maytag standards; which explains why they are so crappy. And the service
that I am getting is from Maytag Canada, also in accordance with Maytag's
very poor service standards.
At least the Kenmore is working flawlessly, so that is one brand that I
will stay with.
I also broke (my fault) the Wood's freezer when I cracked an exposed pipe.
In theory I should be able to solder it and add refrigerant. Turns out
that the way the unit is built the pipe:
1 - can't be soldered, or at least is likely to not work if I tried;
2 - the pipe itself can't be replaced because I have to buy a whole
crapload of parts and the back has to be opened and all the parts changed
with two hours of labor and $150 of parts.
Since an exposed pipe is what is most likely to be damaged why make it so
hard and expensive to fix it? Why not just have some hose that you
disconnect at both ends and replace?
Would it kill these idiots to design things with some intelligence?
Back in the old days I had some fancy-ass turntable that had some $10
rubber belt turning the table. Not so bad, expect it would break often.
After the third time it broke I replaced it with some regular elastic band
and that worked just a well and lasted just a long.
I wonder if I can fix the thin craked pipe by just putting some rubber hose
over it with some epoxy glue? Might be worth a try ...
