The silvering on such is also a bit like the CO2 behind the
greenhouse effect. It reflects infrared back into the container
just as CO2 absorbs it & then re-emits it in random directions ..
one of which is back at the planet (~50/50 chance of out towards
space or back at planet .. if out in might hit more CO2 .... but
hitting CO2 used to be rare .. think of lots of very slightly silvered
shells all about the planet in many layers).
