"Jon, I'm seriously disappointed with your behavior in here lately."heh, an ultimatum? :)
Yeah, well John Carroll had it coming.
If you're really disappointed then start posting on issues I can
relate to (like where VX has improved or coming improvements... they
are showing new multiple viewports for the coming VX 13) and I will
spend less time being obnoxious to assholes and more time focused on
content.
I'm interested in knowing how you fix "dumb" solids and what you think
of products like Mike Payne's new venture SpaceClaim which uses no
parametrics and instead treats native and imported solids the same...
don't you think VX should have these types of tools?
They do to a certain extent I use them all the time. The "remove face and close gap" tool is certainly one of 'em. You can manually mark fillet faces and hole features. It wont interrogate the model to find the features to make the model "native" though.
The remove face and close gap tool is awesome. Many times, I need to change a fillet face on an imported job. I'll use this tool to remove the original fillets, and either leave 'em, or create new ones.
Doesn't DELCAM
PowerShape have tools like this that VX doesn't? Do you still use
DELCAM PowerShape?
I rarely use PowerShape these days. Mostly just for electrode documentation more than anything else. And the latest version I have a license for is 5.8 IIRC. They are up to 7.1 right now I think.
I have begun to use VX's machining lately. Mostly for "government" jobs of my own. It's more cumbersome than Powermill, but it's certainly quite usable. The quickmill high speed roughing routines are AWESOME. They do paths much like Surfcam's velocity milling technology.
I'm pretty disappointed in Tom Brewers recent obnoxious behavior but I
guess this is what happens when one gives up on posting machining /
CNC / CADCAM / mechanical content and instead focuses on Reverse
Stalking Cliffy. BTW, I also feel complaining to Cliffys ISP is a
waste of time. As a side note I saw little or no content in response
to Tom's posts in the SolidWorks newsgroup on CAMWorks.
I certainly never saw where Tom Brewer was being obnoxious.
.
The Cliffy answer is to ignore what he posts totally and concentrate
your efforts on posting content. Further, if someone really feels I'm
that I'm truly obnoxious / a buzzword based hotel / motel worker then
they should ignore what I post / me totally. If they don't, I feel
this says a hell of a lot more about them than it does about what ever
bull*** they are spewing in regards to me.
"Hope you're enjoying sunny California. I'd kill for your weather at
times. I wouldn't even own a car if I lived there :)- "
I'm here because of Michele. I would like to see what the LA area is
like in regards to its machine shops. I do miss the Phoenix area and
my job shop clients and friends there. I'm not averse to moving
anywhere if I get bored at the shop I'm now at or an opportunity
presents itself in the future. The most important thing to me is job
satisfaction not the weather. Not sure if my body will go along with
what my mind wants but lately no health issues.
While you may at times wish you had good weather all year round I
think you would quickly lose interest in great weather if you had to
work in a shop where your talents were not being used or developed.
