I have, like Mr. Potts, unintentionally used mine that way, but more
frequently it to find the center (more or less) of a hole that is too small
for the co-ax indicator. Relatively slow rpm, about 600, feel for minimal
step between body and tip. Usually good for about .001 - .002 location.
