The hard drive is shot and it's not just a simple swap "unless" it's a newer
machine with Win2K on the front end. I've replaced the "computer" in the
control twice because of hard drive failure. The last time the system was
win98. I called Fadal and found out they were no longer licenced to
distribute it so this meant,,, you guessed it, another new computer. I also
had to replace the main interface board that mounts behind the PCB. With a
20% discount (I guess they felt sorry for me) it came out to just under 5K.
I did all the work myself, so thids was just parts.

It won't ever happen again though. I made and image of the hard drive, and
used it to make a copy. The copy is in the machine and works great. The
"master" drive is all snug and secure in and anti static bag in a cupboard
above my desk.

Hey all you fadal guys! I have a friend that has a fadal 3016 with a
MP32 control. He has a few questions.


1. In MDI mode, he can move to a G54, enter tool offset, and bring the
tool down, but when he tries to manual jog after that, it alarms out. On
the 88HS control this doesn't happen.

2. This machine has the switch for the PC display. When swithcing over
to the PC, the screen is blank, and the PC hard drive is clicking (like
it has a seek error) Shouldn't there be some display error? and What doe
it cost to get a hard drive from Fadal. I believe this was when they had
version of Gibbs installed on the PC side.
