I am seeking employment for the first time in decades and have noticed how easy it is to find out ones age on the internet. I know any place I apply can get this online so I am wondering if I can avoid this somehow. I will be moving to another town eventually and am curious if there is a way to limit having my personal data exposed. How is this data updated. How do these sites find out everything you may not want everyone to know? I have always had an unlisted phone. Is it the phone companies that supply the personal information?

Jonnathan, I understand your concern about private information, setting that aside, I wouldn't worry about age when applying for a job. Good machinists are hard to find, and in my experience an older person in general has a better work ethic than most younger kids.
Good luck in your job hunting.

Steve
