Age discrimination in machine shops

I am seeking employment for the first time in decades and have noticed how
easy it is to find out ones age on the internet. I know any place I apply
can get this online so I am wondering if I can avoid this somehow. I will be
moving to another town eventually and am curious if there is a way to limit
having my personal data exposed. How is this data updated. How do these
sites find out everything you may not want everyone to know? I have always
had an unlisted phone. Is it the phone companies that supply the personal
information?
