Actually, this does work quite well for putting drain holes into the chip
barrels...
Wear ear protection. One .380 out of a handgun fired at a burn barrel
sent a noise pulse back at my left ear that wiped out 20 - 30db in a
millisecond.
Curved metal objects can send focused sound right back at you.

We've always layed them onto their side with the open end facing away--black
felt pen bullseye on the bottom...
