I sure wish they'd move IMTS to Las Vegas. I was planning on
attending this year, but I've already made my big purchase for the
year, so I'll just wait until 2008. However, if it were in Vegas,
I'd absolutely be there.

With Chicago most anyone can get a direct flight. Now if you wanted
to take Westec and make it every off year from IMTS and hold it in
Vegas, that I could go for. Westec hasn't been well attended for a
long time now, and downtown L.A. has zero going for it.

Downtown LA is the reason I probably won't even be going to WESTEC
next year. This year I flew into Ontario (1hr,15min), and then
rented a car to make the 43 mile trek from ONT to LA. Unfortunately
it was raining, and people in Socal can't drive FOR *** in the
rain. It took 3 hours. The trip back from LA to ONT took 3.5 hours,
and I missed my flight. I spent almost 7 hours to drive about 80
miles.

Why would anyone fly into Ontario to attend a show in downtown Los
Angeles?

Not every airline flies into LAX and even those that do frequently try and
push traffic to Ontario when they can.
It's a lot less expensive for them to land at LAX and they sometimes pass on
a portion of the savings. The load into and out of LAX is also an issue.
The carriers can't add flights into LAX as easily as they can Ontario so
when they need capacity it shows up at Ontario.

There would be no reason to drive at all, take a shuttle to your hotel
and walk

The trip this year took about 40 minutes at rush hour according to one of my
customers. They flew in and out on the same day and had all day at the show.
