illustrating a mental process, conscious or unconscious, called
"Confirmation Bias" that seems to afflict those that are of a political
extremist bent.

Did you try telling a few wingers & fundies?

Your mentioning "WMD" as a response in this context is probably just a
strawman argument meant to deflect attention away from the conclusions
of the article.

Did their conclusions threaten you in some way?

Looked like a prime counterexample to me.
