And what the hell does 911 have to do with Iran, a country which FOUGHT

A country where people came out to the streets and held a candle light
vigil for the people killed on 9-11?

short answer: oil

For one historical analog see what happened to the Dutch
republics in South Africa as soon as gold and diamonds were
discovered. Want another? Look at what the Spanish did in South
America. Same story but with the excuse of spreading the one
true faith.

Its now about energy/oil while we spread democracy, free
enterprise and human rights.

So Unka George...if it were all about the Oillllll...how come we arent
pumping Iraq dry and paying under $3.35 a gallon for regular unleaded?

Gunner

We are trying but the rag heads shoot our ass off every chance
they get. Act like its their oil or something. Damn Indians
complained when we shot all their buffalo too. People just don't
seem to appreciate it when you do them a favor....

If the oil companies are selling all the gas they can make now
why would they drop prices even if they are buying cheap Iraqi
oil? ==> Got to save that for the week before elections to
celebrate ben Ladens capture.<== (By the way, who is getting the
Iraqi oil that is being produced, and at what price? By most
estimates 60 to 90 million dollars a *DAY* is being pumped and is
going somewhere...)

A contributing factor is that we aren't sending in any oil people
to get the job done, rather "suits" such as management
consultants with bags full of buzz words, and "service" companies
that seem to specialize in graft and corruption. (I will let
Cliff expand on this.)

Things will change if, and only if, the people with steel toed
boots, tin hats and calloused hands show up in the oil fields.
Please note that these may not be Americans and the oil that is
then produced may not go to the US.

The media told me to cheer up, things could be worse. I cheered
up, and sure enough things got worse.

There is something to be said for government by a great aristocracy
which has furnished leaders to the nation in peace and war for generations;
even a democrat like myself must admit this.

But there is absolutely nothing to be said for government by a plutocracy,
for government by men very powerful in certain lines and gifted with the "money touch,"
but with ideals which in their essence are merely those of so many glorified pawnbrokers.

Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919), U.S. Republican (later Progressive) politician, president. Letter, 15 Nov. 1913.
