Yeah, you'd think Haas would be able to figure that out right? Wrong. Problems are on going. I have to say though that Haas has warranted the lead screws for the life of the lease. We had some early electronics problems with our Haas VMCs. A couple of Mocon boards, and a few servo amplifiers. All were covered completely by Haas, even after one machine was out of warranty. This was about 6-7 years ago IIRC. The machines have been *VERY* reliable(knock on wood), since then.
The sl-30 to me seems to definitely be an oiling problem. Since the leadscrews and the spindle are oiled by the same way oil pump.
And, the leadscrews that have failed are from two different manufacturers.
But still would like to know if anyone else has gotten lemons from Haas.

The 10000 rpm vf-3 has has had, let's see, 4 leadscrews replaced. the sl-30
has had 2 leadscrews replaced and one currently failing, 2 vector drives
that have failed so bad that the regen caught fire, and now has burned up a
spindle. all machines were bought 2001 or newer.
Anyone else having similar problems?
problem causing the failure of the lead screws. Lack of lubrication,
coolant getting into the nut, poor alignment of the lead screw height,
nut not centered on the lead screw causing a flexing of the screw or the
screw not perfectly aligned with the axis or travel. A leadscrew that
is properly made and installed should last many years if it's taken care
of.
