It cannot be sent in for repairs?
The ABB repeair guy, didn't mentione that option.. He just offered me a new
linear scale.
I don't know if it is magnetic, like a digital caliper, or if it glass..
I noticed that the plastic shield in the left end was damaged, because the
limit switch haden't been working propper..
Cleaning the head, and the scale didn't have any effect.
If you "cleaned" it you should know if it's glass or magnetic.
Damn it's a hussle to buy a 20 year old machine, but for hobby use, it realy
can't be any other way..
As it's for an "Anilam Cruisader II control" it's probably
a glass Anilam scale. At most you MIGHT need a new head
(as you cleaned it you know that the scale is unbroken)
but it may also be just a broken wire .... did you check them from the
reader head all the way to the box? With an ohmmeter?
I doubt you want to try mixing types/brands of scales .... even
if it would work with magnetic vs. glass ones ...
As Heidenhain bought Anilam some years ago try asking
at http://heidenhain.com/ - they probably have a repair
place not too far from you as well as parts.
Or try a Web search for [Anilam repair] - there are lots
of hits ....
