Sheesh, I worked on one today big old Ikegai ,the part on it looked
like it weighed maybe 800 pounds.
Some kind of seam rollers, they rebuild em and never take more than
like .010 a pass but the finish looked like a ground finish.
Ikegai, eh? Damn good lathes. Further proof that the best way to go out of
business is to properly buid a heavy duty, accurate lathe. You're far
better off bolting linear ways to some pig iron and making a control that's
easy to use. Then sell the whole thing for cheap.
Oh well, the upside to Ikegai's demise was that I now work with a really
great guy who used to work for them.
People that know WTF they are doing are getting to be hard to find.
