We're located in Southern Indiana. We're a 2 man job shop, wanting to expand into doing some production work. Have had a
RoboTool, 2 1/2 axis CNC knee type mill doing some simple work. This machine was bought with the idea of being able to do
contouring work as we have some products to go to market with that will require 3 axis at some point.
Power and travel wise, this machine is far above our needs but the price was right. We've talked about getting a service guy
in but the cost..oh! the cost..bend over and grab the ankles costs. That may be what it takes but we want to explore all the
other options first.

This is a Mazak 5V with a Fanuc 6M-B controller built about '80 or so. The hydraulic cylinder is to position the Z axis head
anywhere within a 20" travel and the head has 8" of quill travel. Old machine bought from a second/third/whatever dealer.
Would appear to have been an ex-GM machine that was in Mexico at some point. Doesn't seem to have much, if any, wear on the
ways on any axis though we were told it had been in production. Over all, the machine seems to be in good mechanical shape.
Control wise, we don't really know as we haven't been able to get it up an running. We didn't want to retrofit a new control
on this old of a machine but...
We bought the manuals from Fanuc and the parameters in the seem to match the parameters in the manuals and in the
documentation we got with the machine.

Ok, now I get it (at least the hyd.part) we are just overlooking
something simple I think...lol.
There is no reason this machine if in good mechanical shape wont run
if your not bothered by the older control, lots of em running
everyday.
I have no doubt the parameters match, but if for some reason any of
them is corrupt, which can happen for many different reasons it can
cause parity problem's.
Just because they display correct does not mean the ram isnt corrupt,
but back to the fact the control come out of estop then homes one axis
before the 911 alarm is unusal.
I work on some 6 controls and have never seen what you describe.
If I got in a corner with that problem as a last resort I would dummy
up the servos and try to bring the control up by itself and ensure the
control could operate without the machine.
If I come up with anything will post it....keep us informed as ur
plugging along.
Where are you located?
Good Luck
