Just out of curiosity, what machine brand/model
is this that has an overactive Z axis balance cylinder?
Now I'm confused also. You say nothing moves.
But you also say "during boot, the X axis will home"... which is it?
Moving or not moving?

I guess I'm confused about what you're talking about.
During boot, the X axis will home,
the Z cylinder will pull the head back up and the control will fault to a 911 alarm. We
were getting a Servo Not Ready (I don't remember the error). After going though all stuff to find out whether or not the
motor, drive and cables were good, we're at this parity error We're NOT moving anything yet, we can't get past the parity
error to move anything.
I assume you're talking about after boot when you would go into an E Stop. We're not then yet.

Yes. The problem stayed with the Y axis. I was wrong earlier in that
the Z axis doesn't move. The hydraulic "positioning" cylinder sucks
the head back up.
Any idea where to get a "different" set of parameters to input into
the machine?

When you swapped the servo drives, did the problem stay with the Y axis?
The next step is to get the parameters copied out of the machine and
clear the memory and re install the parameters. Also clear any programs
in the memory. I wouldn't recommend changing a lot of chips since you
may put more problems into the unit. Id start by checking the voltages
out of the power supply as well as the ac ripple on each voltage.
Sometimes too, the error on the screen isn't necessarily the real error
in the system.

I guess the question at this stage is how are you moving anything ??
If you boot into a ROM- Parity error how can you get out of Estop?
The control generates a signal called Nc Ready that allows you get the
control up.
Sounds like you are confused as to cause and effect. go back to where
you started and forget anything to do with servos until you can get a
proper boot.
NC ready signal also allows the servo's to come up.
If you start messing with clearing parameters make sure you know what
your option parameters are and write them down as when you do a clean
boot those I think will have to be eneterd inby hand at least on a OT
they do.
You have a disaster waiting to happen I sense, so be careful.
Dont worry about parameters from another machine download yours as
long as you havnt changes anything they will be fine.
