The guy was right. When it comes to steel and saltwater enviroment, unless the
part is *completely* plated you will have galvanic corrosion in no time at all.
A microscopic nick is all it takes. It's a matter of active vs noble metals;
when the coating is more "noble", the part acts as a sacrificial anode.
Hot-dipped zink plating works fine, although it's not as fancy looking
(I have a couple of zink plated shotguns), but in the end nothing beats the
real thing; polished stainless steel.
