I sort of doubt it.
IIRC The part was Aluminum, about 2 inches OD, 6 inches
long with the sliding ring being about 2.5 inches wide seeming to
clear on it's ID by perhaps .1" and riding in that "slot" no wider
than about 3 inches.
I've been puzzled for decades <G>. I do hope that there was
no cheating involved .... THAT would be so simple.
