Yup, I've attended several plus chapter meetings. I gave a seminar on set
up time reduction at the '05 one. I also sat in on the Swiss round table.
The listserve is a great resource, plus they have a metallurgist with loads
of experience and contacts on staff.
The thing that I find interesting is that most of the members are
competitors on a day to day basis. Yet they exchange information, sell each
other machines, loan tooling, bar stock and gaging, like they are all best
friends.
The organization itself lobbies the government, does economic anaysis, and
produces studies and surveys on things like wages, benefits, material
costs, etc. But it's like anything else, the more you put into it, the more
you will get out of it.
