IIRC The local chambers of commerce have a fair idea what
businesses in their area do .... some of which might involve
machined parts.
IIRC The US Department of Labor also breaks things down
by the SIC industry code which you can search by in various areas.
And the small business folks can probably help too and/or SCORE.
And you can ask your local librarian or reference librarian
for help too I expect (public library if the wingers have not
gotten them closed or stolen the book).
