OT - Hard Drive Recovery - AnyOne Ever?

Just blew my hard drive - had 95% of my data backed up, but got lax recently
and lost a bunch of important irreplaceable shit.
Got a quote from ECO data recovery (http://www.ecodatarecovery.com/) of
200.00 to 775.00, depending on what they find. (I feel its a mechanical
issue, but what do I know? - not much).
I have trust issues with just sending all my data to a company I looked up
on Google and really know nothing else about.
Anybody have a recovery company that they've dealt with and found
trustworthy?
Any advice welcome - thanks
.
