A knee mill would be a very cost effective solution. Knee mills don't really
come large enough to make a 1'x2'x3' part without reclamping. But with being
able to move the knee in addition to the table you can get a lot of Z
motion. Most knee mills also allow swinging and sliding (in/out) of the mill
head for more range of motion. Not as handy as a bed mill large enough to
do the whole job at once but WAY less bucks.
