It is no surprise that HP is suffering. Have you seen or worked on any of the new HP or Compaq pc's? They are mass producing integrated clone BS pc's.
They are making throw away garbage, nobody but grade school kids or possibly an occasional teenager should ever buy that crap. If you want a fully integrated POS, buy HP or Compaq. That is all you get, these pc's are pathetic. Gamer's beware, the first thing you will find is that the "on board" video is not enough to run most games. The machines are not designed for being upgraded. Just count the expansion slots and capability.
Unless you are buying a "business class" HP machine you are throwing your money away.
These pc's do not even come with a Windows CD, everything software related is accessable via download. If you change components on these beasts and the 'net connected MotherShip does not recognize your pc any longer, you can't even download the software or drivers anymore that you paid for.
OTOH, I have not seen any other brand of off the shelf machines that I could endorse. That is why I buy the components I want and build my own.
