What is a Linksys "54G" router?
Do you have a real model number?
If yes, look on the serial number tag and include the hardware
revision number. (v1 thru v8).
What firmware version are you using? Look on the setup status page.

Check the WAN "idle timeout" settings. Set it to zero. You might be
disconnecting from the ISP.
