WPC54G uninstall problem

I'm trying to uninstall the Linksys Wireless-G Notebook Adapter program
so I can reinstall because I'm getting an error message saying
"Hardware. ID missing".

I have Windows XP and, using the Add or Remove Programs, I get another
error messae, "An installation support file could not be installed. The
sysem cannot find the file specified."

I have the above referenced adapter, version 7.1 and the WRK54G
wireless router.
My wireless connection worked fine before losing the Hardware.ID.

Can anyone help with my next logical action?
