would my d-link dl-524 be able to support and give this antenna power
its needs to get a full 18dbi gain? (i know i need to get a pigtail)

An antenna isn't going to "load down" a transmitter (assuming its
properly designed and constructed as commercially built antenna would
be).

If your radio puts out 10 mW, then you get an effective radiated power
of 630 mW (an 18 dB gain).
If your radio puts out 100 mW, then you get an effective radiated
power of 6.3 W (an 18 dB gain).
If your radio puts out 10,000 Watts, then you get a citation.

don't forget, at these microwave freqs, that the feedline also has loss,
and it's length is a real concern...
