You should dump netbeui. I don't even think it comes installed on XP Pro or Home.

1) MS for Network
2) TCP/IP
3) F&PS for MS
4) QOS - I don't think you need it but it was checked on my connection.

thanks for hte advice but I'm staying with it. NETBIOS serves my needs well for a small network (although I understand it's not good for larger ones), and the other computers use it fine. Even my wireless laptop used to be able to share files until recently and I'm trying to figure out what happened.

Look, if you want it to work, then I suggest you use MS NWLink that works that implements NETBIOS and get rid of NETbeui. NETbeui is not a routable protocol and is why you're having problems using it, which I'll assume you're having the problem between wired and wireless machine.

Right now the choices for me are make NETBIOS work or not bother sharing files wirelessly on that laptop, so I'd appreciate some insight on getting NETBIOS to work

If you want it to work, then get rid of NETbeui off the NICS and use MS NWlink IPX/SPX Netbios compatible protocol or don't use the NETbeui and use the above setup or don't share resources with the wireless at all.

Those are your choices and you cannot beat a dead horse, although some will try.

Duane :)
