What's my best wifi solution?

Hi I have a dlink 614+ wireless router and a dlink wireless laptop
card. I want to be able to have better range between the two, so what's
my best bet to get a cantenna or something like that or to enhance the
routers signal with a Parabolic outside antenna or amp. I want to be
able to use the laptop in a structure that is at least 1200 feet from
the router and has another structure in front of it. I think you get
the picture, any ideas?
Thanks

.
