Losing search results on Google

Solution to this mystery?
Using Google Advanced Search, a search for all URLs containing a
certain term gave me 17 results, and also told me that "we have
omitted some entries.... you can repeat the search with the omitted
results included."
So I repeated the search. I got "Results 1 -10 of about 748 results
for allunurl: [my search term]."
When I went through these results, on the the-next-to-last page it
still said at the top: " Results 131 - 140 of about 748 results for
allinurl: [my search term]. "
But when I got to the last page of results:
"Results 141 - 141 of 141 results for allinurl: [my search term]."
Huh? 141? What happened to the other 624 results?
.
