Then the joke is on Matt. April fool jokes are only valid till midday.

Nonsense! That's a pseudo tradition devised by school teachers to
limit the nuisance of kids' playing April Fools' pranks.

Nonsense !
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/April_Fools'_Day
http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/158124/the_history_of_april_fools_day.html
and there are plenty more stating the same.

The 2nd doesn't state having to be done before noon. I also do not see a
citation on the Wiki of where that information came from. Also most of those
pages on the web could have got their info from the Wiki. I myself do not
take Wiki as true and all knowing.:-)

The joke still played out and all who believed it is still the fool.:-)

Of course if we were to follow the real history of it, it wouldn't even be
celebrated on the 1st!

Comes from Encyclopedia Britannia :"The modern custom may have originated in
France when the Gregorian calendar, which moved New Year's Day from March 25
to January 1, was adopted in 1582. Those who continued to celebrate the end
of New Year Week on April 1 were referred to as fools. The timing of the day
also may be related to the vernal equinox (March 21), a time when people are
said to be fooled by sudden changes in the weather. "

Nothing is said about the time when it should be done.:-)
