Re: delete non www version of site

How can I get Google to drop the non-www version of my site? In
Webmaster Tools, both versions are in there, and they have different
query results, etc. I do not have a sitemap submitted for the non-www
version, but I do for the www version. I already have a 301 set up
which does work and directs any incoming non-www requests to www. The
non-www has hardly any inward links, while the www version has many, so
I don't think there would be a PR problem at all with just getting rid
of/not indexing the non-www version. Ideas? Thanks.

Three issues here.

1. If the 301 is set up correctly, there's really no need; anyone who clicks
on the non-www will get delivered where required.

2. If the 301 was set up recently, it will be a while before the non-www
disappears; any links to it seem to throw up 'ghosts' that convice Google
and others that the pages must exist.

3. I'd leave well alone. The cemeteries are littered with corpses saying "I
didn't want the whole site dropped". it does no harm; let it lie!
