Re: DMOZ and Google

Firstly Cat, great response. You obviously understand the system.
Google should hire you!

I'd find it hard to believe that someone already has his/her site
listed in Dmoz would go so far as to care whether Googlel still uses it
or not. I don't beleive you (or anyone else) would actually care whether
someone else's site is listed or not. Most people, when they get their
site listed, move on with their business, not champion for all the
other unlisted sites, because usually, they only care about their
sites. I think maybe you have other sites that you've failed to get
listed and that's what's causing you the frustration....

Francios, this is a forum about the search engines, mostly occupied by
people in the industry. It is the place to voice these concerns. I am a
web developer and I work with this stuff every day for a number of
clients. I do have my site listed on DMOZ and I have a great ranking
for my specialty, however I have been trying to update the description
and title of my site for well over a year. It doesn't happen.

My frustration stems from the arrogant responses I get when asking a
question at the resource-zone. I'm sick of kissing editor *** and
walking on eggshells, in case my site gets removed. I would like to see
the system changed.

I may agree with you that most people just bitch because they cannot
get their site listed but honestly, what is the difference ? The system
still doesn't work, and just because you get on DMOZ doesn't meant they
wont to boot you if your editor gets in a bad mood or you say something
bad about them.

I find it hard to beleive that anyone in the industy would not be
frustrated by Google giving them so much creditbility.
