I've searched on Google's data bases and my own site is PR6 and links to
this site from the index page yet I cannot see my page listed as an
IBL...

It gets a bit frustrating when sites performing better don't use <h1>
etc...

Google's link: and site: operators don't work. You can't trust the
results. It's probably the case that your competition has more, better
and older links than you do.
