organic ranking for a re-branded site

Hi folks,

What are the "rules" in regards to a re-branded site when it comes to
organic ranking? I recall reading somewhere that it takes 4-6 weeks for
Google to fully re-index a new page. So, if I roll out the new website
design, does this mean that I will have to take a hit for that long or
what are some of the things that I can do to minimize the impact?

Warm regards, YFJ

.
