Does it then take an hour to un-install like they usually do?

Isn't that the truth. Half the time, "freeware" really isn't free, but
causes more harm than good. Trust has to be earned.

Any software or web sites that don't get a clean bill of health, from
reputable watch dogs, is probably adware, spyware, and such. Find out what
it is from trust worthy experts, before you download or install any thing,
exclamation point !

I made the mistake of installing somebody's "tool bar" last year, and
next thing I knew, my computer got high jacked by the "winfixer" pest.

Thank goodness, I found some free web sites on a google search, that
are devoted to helping novices like me get rid of "winfixer," and other
malicious threats, viruses, trojans, all that kind of thing.

But the problem turned up again, months later. Between reading here,
and in "alt.privacy.spyware," I learned to carefully follow the advice of
experts. I have taken the steps, and added all of the free anti spyware
programs that they recommended. I keep all these programs up to date, and
run scans once a week.

These programs are Spybot, Adaware, Windowsdefender, Crapcleaner, Spyad,
Siteadvisor, Hosts, Hoster, Winpatrol, and Spywareblaster. I use Norton
anti virus. But there are free AV programs they say are just a good.
I run all the programs at the maximum protection level, "flash killer," all
the resident programs maxed out, the whole enchalada (sp?) .

As a result, my computer, running Windows XP, has been running
smoothly, with no glitches or anomalies, knock on wood. But I am just a
novice. The real experts know a lot more about this than I do. I've
read that they use commercial products, hardware, firewalls, special
operating systems, programming, and all that kind of thing.

I haven't checked "oneclik community toolbars com," to see if it is
spyware, or not. But I don't need anybody's "tool bar," thank you.

Sorry for the off topic reply.
