Hi everyone,
I mentioned earlier in the month that I was having problems with WebCEO
charging me for services I didn't want, and it's happened again.
Which site is it for? I can't see any webCEO tracking code in your
pages so I dunno what they can be charging you for, or how they'd
calculate it.
They had two charges, one was for tracking stats, and I had code. The other
charge was for monitoring site uptime/downtime.
I thought that had always been free. I better check my invoices and
come back to you on that bit.
At the end of the first month I went through their program, and cancelled
the latter charge, by changing the option on their program.
Then I received an invoice. So I complained, and was told how to cancel it,
which was what I had already done.
So I once again cancelled the option.... haven't received any notifications,
but once again was charged.
Went to look this evening, and the sytem showed that I was subscribed.
So I deleted all their tracking code, unsubscribed from everything, and
uploaded the modified files. That's why you don't see the tracking code.
If the tracking code was still there they would still have been
tracking, unless you thought to delete the javascript file you have to
have. Bet you didn't think of that, so I'm guessing everything was
still live, as it were. Easy to be wise after the event though.
I also deleted my credit card details.
My host provides stats that I don't have to pay for, they just aren't as
interesting. And I think it was Jez who said everything else was available
free somewhere on the net.
I don't think you'll beat AWSTATS and they aren't nearly as good as
what you get from webCEO. I use webCEO, Google Analytics and SEO
Administrator to read my logs and all three will tell you a slightly
different story, or rather, give you a different perspective on the
same story.
So I'm just going to delete the program
completely. It leaves a bitter taste though, and I feel ripped off.
I don't know why you were, or even if you were.
