Phil, there are many, many factors to consider when comparing one page's
position in the SERPs to another's. Code errors are but one factor. There's
such a thing as analyzing a keyphrase competitor's coding standards and then
there's obsessing over it and nurturing a resentment. Consider the errors
that you find in a keyphrase competitor's coding standards as a weakness in
their web site promotion strategy. What becomes important is how YOU present
code to the spider.
