Sorry, maybe I did misinterpret you. Here is how I read you:

"As I write an engine may be programming to take note of [my
interpretation: to consider spam] the attributes under discussion [the
title attribute]. For now, though, personally, I won't be [i think I
better avoid] using the technique you describe".

Upon re-reading you, I see that you possibly didn't mean to say that at
all. Well, such are the pitfalls of on-line communication :)

Apart from that, I do experience myself the spam paranoia effect I
described. I have a page where I want to temporarily remove a sentence.
In the past, I would have made the paragraph invisible. Now I'm
starting to get nervous: Will Google punish me if I do that?

Just comment it out, it's a fairly common practice. Commenting out
reams of obvious spam <!--magician here, magician there, magician
bloody everywhere--> is not the same as commenting out the odd
sentence.
