Well, that is what I am trying to say is example.com does not exist (or, is
now, www.example.com as you prefer). That seems to me they should remove
example.com from their index (in my mind, to reduce duplicate content
issues) and since a 301 from example.com to www.example.com was not working
I was thinking maybe a 410 Gone would give them the nudge. Guess it really
doesn't matter...
