Are there some qualifying attributes required before posts (or posters)
are included in the "Original Text" percentage calculations?
Sorry I missed this question earlier.
Indeed there are. To ensure a fair sample of text for each poster
evaluated, only posters who have posted five or more messages in the given
period (one week) are included.
For what it's worth, the definition of "original text" is: any text that
isn't quoted, isn't part of a signature and isn't on a line entirely
consisting of whitespace. This is measured as a byte count, and not a line
count -- so two short lines don't count as double the original text of one
long line.
In turn quoted text is any text where the first non-whitespace character
on the line is one of '>', '|', ':' or '}'.
And a signature is any text, including or following the *first* match of
the Perl-compatible regular expression /\r\n-- ?\r\n/.
