Re: Illinois Watch Co Railroad Watch

Definitely not a true "railroad watch" but Illinois made some "railroad
grade" watches in that configuration. They also made some much lower grade
watches. Impossible to say from the one blurry photo and description which
it is, but I'm guessing the latter, in which case $250 is too much for it.

Here is a low grade Illinois whose markings seem to match the auction
description ("movement marked Illinois Watch Co. Springfield Safety Pinion")
and which otherwise resembles it:

A higher grade movement would have been marked with the jewel count and
"adjusted", I think and I assume the goodwill people, as ignorant as they
are, would have copied the inscription over.

Don't know a lot about watches, but that's no railroad watch.

1. Winding stem at three instead of 12.
2. Roman numerals.

Don't know if it's fairly priced or not, but it seems a bit high.
