In the 50s selling Fuller Brushes I won, in a sales contest, a LeCoultre auto winding wrist watch with a gold filled case. Can be wound manually and has a window showing how tightly it is wound. The dial has LeCoultre and Fuller in small letters. It kept excellent time for several years until the strap broke while I was in Germany. I went to an Air Force PX looking for a new strap, and a friend said why don't you get a new ROLEX, you wont regret it at these prices. I knew nothing about watch brands, and was shocked when I saw the price of $125. I was thinking in terms of $25. to $40. It was a plain SS oyster perpetual with a blue suede strap. I was persuaded to buy it and didn't regret it until I started paying more to have it serviced than I paid for it. I then bought a SEIKO Railroad approved SS which still keeps excellent time after 20 + years and 4 battery changes. In fact, I just bought a new Seiko SGG531 for $99. in the same style that I expect will see me out. Back to the LeCoultre. It still runs but I would expect it needs a COA after all these years. Was it a good watch at the time, or was it a cheap one Fuller bought in bulk to award as prizes. Is it worth having it serviced or should I just forget about it. Maybe someone familiar with LeCoultres can advise me.

I have never seen a cheap crappy JLC. They are all damn good watches.

We like to compare wacthes to cars around here. I'd say it's an Aston Martin. Expensive, a bit bulky, but well put
together with very good handling and performance. :-)

But, AFAIK never worn by James Bond. :)
