In this newsgroup, we say "MERRY CHRISTMAS" and not
"Happy Holidays".
Christmas is about the birst of Jesus we must not ever
forget that.

Mij, I feel that you make quite a lot of assumptions
because in any
case:
1. the birth of the person called Jesus for sure did not
really take
place at this date
2. only a minority of mankind recognises Jesus
3. Christmas is the inheritance of pagen feasts
4. Christmas has not really any religious significance,
being also
celebrated in non Christian societies

Therefore, merry christmas, happy holidays, anything goes,
just
depending upon each individual viewpoint and belief....

While all of the above may be true, none of it matters.

These days, it is an affirmation of our Judaeo-Christian
culture as much as a religious occasion. It is cultural
censorship in the name of political correctness, as shown by
the corresponding lack of enforcing an equal suppression of
other religious or cultural expressions. I fail to see why
I should accept a de facto ban on Christmas when it is
considered perfectly acceptable and polite to express
goodwill and felicitations on Diwali, Eid-al-Fittr or
Channukah.
