Submariner fever.

I have just had a very traumatic experience: Suddenly, the Rolex
Submariner (blue bezel and dial, two tone, etc) has become a very
attractive watch! It would seem that I became infected during a chance
visit to Ben Bridge in the local mall. On a whim, I looked at the Rolex
display case, where such a watch was in pride of place (dead center and
elevated, of course).

I thought to myself: WTH, let's see what the fuss is all about. So I
asked to see the watch and hung it on my wrist for a few seconds.
Indeed, blue and gold are an attractive combination under certain
circumstances, and perhaps this might have been one of those. Dunno.

Recently I've noticed posts about the Invicta 9937/8, with the usual
grumbling about quality of service, etc. It was said that with the ETA
2824-2, this was not a shabby product, and that the fit and finish was
very good, and (apparently, most of all) these models were very close to
the Rolex Sub in dimension, etc. At the time, I was following the
opinions of these "affordable" watches, as I've snagged a couple of
Alpha-1993s from China and was surprised.

So I looked up a picture of the 9938, and was shocked to find that I was
quite taken with what I saw!

Turns out that the Singapore Sandoz has what appears to be the same
model, also using the 2824-2. Both run between $250 and $300 US.
Compared to the Rolex at $7100.00US MSRP ($4500 street?), one wonders
just how much the difference is really worth. Yeah, I agree that
Rowlecks is mostly PR, but that said, how much is the Rolex Sub really
worth compared to other more sanely priced watches? How much more than
$250US might that be?

Well, the rational part of me (I thought that was all there was!) still
thinks that a Damasko chrono, or the like... ahh, hell, how about a Sinn
5100 powered chrono... is what it's all about. And it would seem there
is now another part of me that is seriously contemplating the purchase
of either the Invicta or the Sandoz Sub!

I've become infected! I am now a bling vector! I'm contagious! I seem
to regard it safe to post about this, however. If you think otherwise,
please immediately vaccinate yourself by an extensive drool over an A.
Lange, or the like. An advertisement will do. Any picture or article
will serve.

Should I save myself by excising my horology bump? Nah, I shall soldier
on, hoping to heal myself somehow... Wish me luck!
